Summary:

We are looking for a Technical & Quality Advisor to review and monitor the quality of the underwriting capability in the business as well as to handle complex insurance referrals and to underwrite to a senior level. You will interpret and influence our risk appetite, and support colleagues across the business to maintain exceptional service levels.

About The Role:

Establishing and driving exceptional standards, you will measure quality and support colleagues with training and coaching. The role will involve undertaking projects and working with different areas of the business to ensure provision of a market-leading product range and to drive towards net-zero underwriting.

Skills and Experience:
  • CII Diploma-level qualification, or equivalent experience in underwriting.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability and confidence to share your rationale.
  • The ability to coach and develop others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of the ethos of our mutuality and business objectives, and the ability to interpret risk appetite to balance both.
  • Thorough understanding of legal and regulatory responsibilities, including GDPR and Consumer Duty.
  • Thorough understanding of our insurance products.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Responsibilities Will Include:
  • Handling referrals and enquiries from our Customer Service Centre and Field Insurance Advisors efficiently and effectively, in line with authority levels and risk appetite.
  • Quality monitoring and identifying training needs/guidance required.
  • Meeting Cornish Mutual Members’ needs by developing our products and services.
  • Coaching and developing others, giving feedback and training to further technical understanding across the business.
  • Handling complex Member dissatisfactions.
  • Acting as technical lead/deputy for our insurance products, and providing product updates, training and ongoing product advice.
  • Monitoring our renewal audit report and taking appropriate action.
  • Liaising with our Loss Prevention and Claims teams, taking action where appropriate.
