Frequently asked questions

Can anyone have a Motor Trade Insurance policy?

Not quite. Motor Trade Insurance is designed specifically for people running a business that involves buying, selling, repairing, or servicing vehicles, including agricultural, cars, or light commercial vehicles.

What types of vehicles can I include on a Motor Trade Policy?

You can cover vehicles that are owned by your business and used as part of your motor trade business, as well as any vehicles in your care—like a customer's vehicles that you're repairing. In some cases, we may also be able to include personal vehicles owned by you or your spouse, but you will need to discuss this with us before any cover is agreed.

Is there an age limit for drivers on a Motor Trade policy?

Yes, there is. For business-related use, drivers need to be at least 21 years old. For any other kind of use, the minimum age is 25.

Can I update my own Motor Insurance Database record?

We may be able to accommodate this. For more information, please contact your local Field Insurance Advisor or call our Member Services team.

Who should we contact in the event of a claim?

Our Member Services Team on 01872 277151.

Do you underwrite your own motor policies?

Yes, however please note the Motor Breakdown Solutions and Motor Legal Expenses cover is underwritten by ARAG Legal Expenses Insurance Company.
