Cornish Mutual supports Dorset County Show as headline sponsor

South West insurer Cornish Mutual has pledged to support Dorchester Agricultural Society as the headline sponsor of Dorset County Show for the next three years.

Founded by Dorchester Agricultural Society in 1840, Dorset County Show will be taking place from Saturday September 1 to Sunday September 2 this year, and celebrates the best of agriculture and rural life. The annual two-day event attracts more than 60,000 people and offers something for everyone, from families to agricultural enthusiasts and is held each year at the Dorchester Showground in Cokers Frome.

Set up by farmers in 1903, Cornish Mutual insures farms and rural businesses across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset.

As a mutual organisation, Cornish Mutual does not have shareholders and is owned by and run for the benefit of its Members. The company is the only Chartered Insurer based in the South West and was recently named in the UK’s Top 100 insurance companies.

Cornish Mutual offers a range of insurances including farm, small business, home, let property, agricultural motor vehicle, agricultural motor fleet, motor trade, special events and personal accident.

Alan Goddard, managing director of Cornish Mutual, said: “Cornish Mutual’s ethos has always been to support the South West’s agricultural community. With a growing number of Cornish Mutual Members in Dorset, this is exactly the right time for us to become headline sponsor for the Dorset County Show.

“We are really looking forward to working with the Show team, fellow sponsors and exhibitors to make the 2018 Dorset County Show a huge success.”

Will Hyde, show secretary, added: “We are proud to have Cornish Mutual on board as our headline sponsor for the next three years. As a company with farming roots and being a farm insurance provider, it was the perfect fit for the Show to join forces with Cornish Mutual.

“The countdown has begun until this year’s Show and the team behind the event has worked hard to provide a jam-packed schedule over the weekend, including a new main ring attraction of camel racing. Come rain or shine there is a variety of attractions, livestock, and fun for all the family at Dorset County Show.”
