Reduce your risk | Stay safe and help us all stay ahead FarmSafe

Farms can be dangerous places. Reducing the risk of accidents and fatalities on farms is a vital issue in the South West rural community.

FarmFarmSafe is a Cornish Mutual initiative which aims to raise awareness of health and safety on farms. As an insurance company with our roots in farming the South West, we take health and safety issues extremely seriously and would like to do everything we can to help reduce the risks for the benefit of us all.

Health and safety is a matter of life and death. Very sadly, in 2012/13, four people died from farm-related accidents in the South West. This was on top of a large number of serious injuries and episodes of ill health among farm workers and members of the public.

This health and safety section of the website provides guidance to help you make sure your farming activities comply with health and safety regulations, as well as take proactive steps to reduce the risks

It includes a wide range of subjects surrounding health and safety on farms. We have focussed on the topics which we believe will be most pertinent to farmers in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset. Each topic provides links to valuable further information.

What’s more, you can check out our useful videos on the various topics, produced in partnership with Duchy College.

Although it is not intended to be a replacement for expert advice, we hope you will find our guidance useful
