Cornish Mutual Member Services Advisor Arthur Denton has been made a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (FCILEX).

The fellowship is the result of 12 years of study and makes Arthur a qualified Chartered Legal Executive. Arthur and his wife have had four children since he began his studies, which he completed while working full time.

For his CILEX training, Arthur specialised in contract law, employment law and tort law, which focuses on civil wrongs that can lead to injuries or damages. To earn the qualification, Arthur had to sit 24 exams as well as submitting an extensive portfolio of work.

Arthur joined Cornish Mutual in 2014, following a varied career in the claims industry in the South East. As well as working for other insurance companies and law firms, Arthur has worked as a claims handler in the motor sports industry.

Arthur said: “Cornish Mutual supported me throughout my training and my colleagues were very understanding. I am also very grateful to my wife for her support. Our family has grown considerably while I have been training. I even had to dash off just after the birth of my youngest son to sit an exam on the same day.”

“Completing the training was a relief and when the certificate arrived it was a real buzz. The knowledge I have gained through CILEX will be invaluable to my work at Cornish Mutual. It gives me a much deeper understanding of the issues we support our Members with every day.”

Cornish Mutual Managing Director Alan Goddard said: “Congratulations to Arthur. This is a really significant achievement that is the culmination of many years of study.”

“Arthur has focused on areas of law that are particularly relevant to insurance claims that we handle at Cornish Mutual. Having a qualified Chartered Legal Executive on our staff gives the firm a new dimension. It also provides our Members with that extra assurance that we have the expertise to give them a really first class service.”
