Home Insurance

A lot of your hard-earned money goes into your home and its contents over the years… but insuring your home is about so much more than just protecting your finances.

HouseAt Cornish Mutual, we understand the importance of feeling secure in your home.

That's why we offer a broad and flexible range of cover choices, using our experience to point out pitfalls you might not have thought of, so you can enjoy the security of knowing you have exactly the right protection for your home and property.

Home Buildings

Naturally, we offer cover against fire and the usual array of dangers that can commonly damage the buildings of your home.

However, our building insurance covers other things you might not have thought of, like accidental damage to sanitary fittings, glass and underground services. We also include your liability as the property owner in case, for example, someone is injured by tiles falling from your roof.

We'll help you to make sure you are insured for the true cost, should you need to rebuild your home from scratch - including an allowance for the cost of debris removal, architects' and surveyors' fees and local authority requirements - so your policy won't come up short should the worst happen.

Home Contents

Our home insurance covers repair or replacement (new-for-old) of most possessions in your home, that are damaged or lost as a result of a long, pre-agreed list of events or dangers.

Our home insurance includes important points like replacing your locks if your house keys are stolen, loss of oil or water (if you're on a meter), for example if a pipe bursts, and loss of food if there's a problem with your home freezer. Personal liability cover is also included as standard.

Legal Expenses

This cover is automatically included in your policy, and offers free advice helplines for legal, tax and other problems. Its biggest benefit, though, is cover against costs in unforeseen legal disputes, such as building work on a neighbour's roof causing damage to your home or a shop fitting your new carpets badly then refusing to make good the damage.

How much to insure?

In case you are not sure how much your "sum insured" should be on either your buildings or contents insurance policy, we have prepared this downloadable guide to the true costs of rebuilding or refurbishing your home.
