Fees
Advancements in veterinary diagnostics and treatments have
escalated the costs associated with veterinary treatment for
horses. In fact the average vet bill these days is around £1500.
Our horse insurances allow you to select the level of cover that
you feel you require up to £5,000 per incident for horses aged
under 17 years (subject to an excess).
Loss of use
Should your horse suffer injury or illness, loss of use can be
covered up to 60%, 75% or 100% of the value of your animal
(depending on insurer/policy).
Loss of tack
Tack can be expensive to replace. We offer cover for loss of
saddlery due to theft, accidental loss or damage up to £5,000
subject to an excess.
Liability to third parties
Public Liability cover for the damage your horse causes to a
third party can be covered up to £3,000,000 per claim, an excess
may apply.
Personal accident
As many riders are aware, injury due to horse riding
accidents is not uncommon. Our cover insures you against death
or serious and incapacitating injury caused by your horse or while
riding.
Older horses
There are additional expenditures associated with owning an
older horse. Accidental injury cover is available and cover can be
extended to include colic surgery and veterinary fees (available at
£750 or £3000) subject to excesses.
Policies for horses insured before reaching 17 years may be
renewed including sickness & disease cover up to 20 years of
age.
Death, disposal and loss of foal cover
We can offer cover for death of your horse, theft and straying,
inclusive of recovery costs and loss of irrecoverable entry fees.
Also available is disposal cover up to £300 and insurance should
your horse suffer the loss of a foal (up to £500).

- with obtaining advice in an emergency involving your horse
- if your veterinary surgeon is recommending emergency surgery
or humane destruction
- with insuring an additional horse or pony
24 Hour Vet Helpline and Legal Protection
cover
A 24 hour emergency veterinary helpline can be added to your
insurance, invaluable in the event that you are unable to contact
your own vet
Legal protection can also be added to your cover. It will enable
you to pursue uninsured losses for a minimal additional
premium.

Our Horse Insurance is provided by Cornish Mutual subsidiary
company Cornish Mutual Insurance Services Ltd (CMIS). The company
is an appointed representative of South Essex Insurance Brokers Ltd
who are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services
Authority.
