The decision to set up the business came 24 years
ago. Richard explained "I was working on the peat at the time and
out of the blue one evening I said to my wife that I fancied
setting up my own business. She was fully supportive of the idea
and the business has grown from there".
In recent years Richard and Audrey's two sons, Andrew and Paul
have joined the family business which now has seven tractors
performing a wide range of work including hedge cutting, ditch
cleaning, the digging of footings and maintenance of 200 miles of
local water board drainage.
Whilst many Cornish Mutual Members have recommended the company to
friends and family, the Duckett family have taken it one step
further even handing out Insurance Inspector Nick Howe's business
cards to local farmers; "We get on well with Nick, he lives right
on the doorstep and whenever you ring him for help it is never too
much trouble. That's why we have been happy to hand out his
business cards - we know the level of service that Nick and Cornish
Mutual offer".
Nick commented "Developing relationships and understanding Members
businesses and insurance requirements is a vital part of my role as
an Insurance Inspector. I'm always happy to pop out and see the
Ducketts as it gives me a better understanding of the insurance
risks involved with their business and I can make sure I tailor the
cover to meet their needs".
Richard has also been impressed by the Cornish Mutual claims
service; "When you claim they seem to be on the ball and they get
it sorted - which is what you need when you have suffered a
loss".
