At Cornish Mutual, we do not believe in encouraging you to buy cover you do not want. Our philosophy is to work with each Member so that their insurances genuinely meet their needs.
Our starting point is protection against risks that, if they occur, would threaten the survival of your business. We therefore strongly recommend that every farmer should have public liability cover.
Employers' liability cover protects you should an employee be injured and it is proved that it was your responsibility… and the legislation placing such responsibility on farmers is growing all the time. While we’ll work with you to spot and minimise the risks you face, insurance provides a 'sleep easy' protection in case things do go wrong
Although the law does not specifically require you to take employers’ liability insurance for close relatives, it is a good idea to take out cover for everyone you employ. This way, should an accident happen, your relative can receive the same compensation as any other worker.
Insurance of your property, including farmhouse, cottages, farm buildings, livestock, deadstock or vehicles, will be decided on the basis of what you want to insure.
The options are wide: you can decide to not insure certain buildings and, for those you do, select cover and excess levels that suit you. For livestock, the choices include fire, lightning, accidental injury, death, straying, transit or a specific disease.
Accidents do happen, whether at work or elsewhere. We can provide personal accident insurance, which pays benefits should you be unable to work – especially important for self-employed farmers.
Cornish Mutual Members value our honesty and openness. If you deal with us you can be assured that, as a Mutual Insurer, your premium will work hard for your benefit and not be passed to shareholders.
All our farming Members have access to the service of our local Insurance Inspectors, we believe that being based in the rural community makes them more accessible to our Members and better able to understand their insurance needs. They would be happy to visit you and can offer a free healthcheck of your farm insurances.
